Joan Miró painted The Farm between summer 1921 and winter 1922. It shows the family farmhouse at Mont-roig del Camp in Catalonia. Ernest Hemingway and his wife Hadley owned it in Paris by November 1925, and his later wife Mary gave it to the National Gallery of Art in Washington in 1987.
Created with 3,611 shapes placed by hand. Zoom in on the animals and tools at the front, where the painter packs the whole farm into one flat view.
