About this American Gothic board

Grant Wood painted American Gothic in 1930, and it won a bronze medal and a $300 prize at the Art Institute of Chicago’s annual exhibition before the museum bought it. Wood used his sister Nan and his dentist, Dr. B. H. McKeeby, as models. The house behind them is a real Carpenter Gothic house in Eldon, Iowa, and the style gave the painting its title.

Created with 3,611 shapes placed by hand. Zoom in on the pitchfork: thin lines are the hardest thing for square shapes to follow.

How to use it

Copy it, zoom in and see how it is made. Or keep it on your board as a conversation piece before a session starts.

Free for your own sessions and client work. Keep the credit on the board. No resale, and no republishing it as your own template.
