Why ambient office noise
A silent room is its own kind of distraction. Plenty of people work better with something going on around them, and a dead-quiet background sounds odd on a video call, like you're broadcasting from a cupboard.
Nothing here is a loop, which is the difference from an ambience track. The three background layers fade in and out on their own timings. The other 11 sounds fire at random, panned around you, as often as the atmosphere setting tells them to. You won't hear the same minute twice.
It all runs in your browser. Nothing gets uploaded or recorded, and no audio downloads until you press start.

Is Office Simulator free?
Yes, and there's nothing to sign up for. It runs in your browser, and that's the whole thing.
What sounds are in it?
Fifty recordings, grouped into 14 sounds. Three of them run underneath everything: office chatter, HVAC hum, and room tone. The other 11 fire at random. Keyboards, mice, phones, a printer, paper, chairs, footsteps, the water cooler, storage cupboards, stationery, and a ping-pong table.
How much does it download?
Nothing until you press start. After that it pulls in about 7 MB in the background, smallest files first, so the office starts before the rest has arrived. Your browser caches them, so coming back is quick.
Can I save a mix, or send one to someone?
Both. Your setup is saved in this browser, so it’s there when you come back. "Copy link to this mix" gives you a URL with the whole thing baked in, so whoever you send it to lands on your exact office.
Which scene should I use on a video call?
Call backdrop. It drops the desk-level sounds (keyboard, mouse, paper, chairs) and keeps only what carries from across the room. Those sit under a conversation much better than a keyboard right next to your mic.
Does it use my microphone, or record anything?
No, it only plays audio. Nothing gets uploaded or recorded, and there's no account for any of it to attach to. Your mix lives in your own browser.
Can I leave it running while I work in another tab?
Yes, and that’s why it doesn’t mute itself when you switch away. Closing the tab stops it. If you’d rather it switched off on its own, there’s a "Stop after" setting at the bottom of the panel.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in any current mobile browser. On mobile data, be aware it pulls about 7 MB the first time you press start.
