About this NES controller board

Gunpei Yokoi invented the plus-shaped D-pad in 1982 for the Game & Watch Donkey Kong, because he needed a flat control for a handheld that folds shut. Nintendo made it standard on the Famicom in Japan in 1983 and the NES in North America in 1985. It later won Nintendo a Technology and Engineering Emmy. It has two buttons, A and B.

Created with 48 shapes and 4 text items placed by hand. The lettering is made of the 4 text items.

How to use it

Copy it, zoom in and see how it is made. Or keep it on your board as a conversation piece before a session starts.

Free for your own sessions and client work. Keep the credit on the board. No resale, and no republishing it as your own template. Fan art. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo.
