The Boss Baby began as Marla Frazee’s picture book, published in 2010, about a baby who takes over the house with nightly meetings. DreamWorks Animation made the 2017 film, with Alec Baldwin voicing the baby in a suit. Tom McGrath directed it, and it grossed $528 million worldwide against a $125 million budget. Frazee drew the character for the first time while on the phone with a friend who was complaining about her boss.
