J. Howard Miller made We Can Do It in 1942 as one of 42 morale posters for Westinghouse Electric. It hung in a few Westinghouse plants for two weeks from 15 February 1943, with only about 1,800 copies printed. It was rediscovered in the early 1980s and became a symbol of women at work, though it was never tied to the wartime Rosie the Riveter.
Created with 7,517 shapes placed by hand. Zoom in on the flexed arm and the polka-dot bandana.
